Chronic Wet Cough Geraldton Outreach

It has been a busy end to the year with a trip to Geraldton and attendance at the Aboriginal Health conference here in Perth. Once again, the regional areas of WA are so fortunate to have dedicated, passionate, and engaging community members who are keen to improve the health and wellbeing of their populations.

Everyone was so welcoming, from the local librarian who is keen to have a week promoting chronic wet cough and sharing our resources in local libraries to the local Aboriginal Medical service, Paediatric Physiotherapists, and local schools. We were welcomed at the Mum’s Wellbeing Expo held in town and engaged with many community groups who are keen to welcome us back in 2023 and engage with the local playgroups and help to share our message “If li`l one has a wet cough for more than 4 weeks get them to clinic quick”.

The Aboriginal Health Conference “Healing the past, Strengthening the Future” was a fantastic way to network with community groups, listen to inspiring guest speakers and join discussions on a range of health topics. The opportunity to collaborate on ideas to further enhance our chronic wet cough education program and ensuring we a working with communities to provide a culturally secure program helps to strengthen the success of the program. Last stop before the Christmas break is Albany.
