Selling roses this 65 Roses Day: Everything you need to know

65 Roses Day is our biggest fundraising and awareness event of the year and it wouldn’t be possible without people like you. As we gear up for 65 Roses Day 2024, we’re calling on individuals, businesses, and communities to join us in selling roses to support West Australians living with cystic fibrosis (CF). Roses are sold across the state to raise funds that enable us to provide support services to families affected by CF and contribute to important research initiatives. If you’re interested in making an impact this 65 Roses Day but aren’t sure what’s involved or where to begin, continue reading below.

Why Roses?

The 65 Roses story dates back to 1965, where a young boy heard the name of his condition, cystic fibrosis. Instead of the clinical term, he heard “65 Roses”. To this day, the rose represents hope, strength, and resilience—the very essence of our cause. By selling roses, we are not only raising vital funds for CF families and individuals but also bringing awareness to the condition and spreading positivity within our communities. Each rose becomes a token of support, a tangible symbol of our commitment to making a difference.

How Can You Get Involved?

We are looking for members of the community who reside in WA to sell roses at their school, workplace, sporting club, social group or anywhere else you can think of. You may live locally in Perth or in regional parts of WA. We encourage individuals and groups to get creative and amplify their impact by involving friends, family, neighbours or colleagues. Simply follow the steps below to learn how to order roses.

Step 1

Estimate how many roses you will sell. If you are making an order for a metropolitan location, the minimum quanitity is 25 rose stems. For those living regionally, the minimum quantity is 200 rose stems. Roses are sold at $5 each, so the more you’re able to sell, the bigger your impact. If you’re unsure how many roses to order, feel free to reach out to our team by email to chat about your order.

Step 2

Decide if you would like your roses to be wrapped and ready to sell, or unwrapped to enjoy the process of preparing them yourself at home. This can be a fun activity to get friends or family involved, and we’ll supply you with the tools and materials to do so. Buckets of roses can be delivered or picked up from our Nedlands-based office.

Step 3

Place your order online through our Metro Rose Order Form or Regional Rose Order Form. No pre-payment is required. However, our cut-off dates are fast approaching. Metro orders must be placed before Friday 3 May and regional orders before Friday 26 April.

Step 4

Start planning your 65 Roses Day event. We have a host of downloadable resources on our website here to help you learn more about CF, tips for fundraising and decorations for your space. Posters can be printed off ahead of your event to help promote the day. Be sure to take plenty of photos on the day and tag us on Instagram @cysticfibrosiswa or send us a DM so we can share in the excitement.

After the Event

Once your event is complete, simply deposit the funds you have raised either online or in person. Our fundraising team will then send you a receipt and personal thank you for your incredible efforts.

Information and Support

Beyond your fundraising impact, selling roses on 65 Roses Day serves as a powerful tool for raising awareness about cystic fibrosis. With each rose sold, we spark conversations, educate others about the condition, and inspire them to make a difference.

Thank you to everyone that has supported 65 Roses Day in years gone by and for your continued generosity. Together, we can make a meaningful difference to the lives of nearly 400 Western Australians living with CF and so many more impacted, one rose at time.
