Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

Every May, the cystic fibrosis community comes together for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. Cystic Fibrosis WA has shareable resources to help you tell your story on social media this month and any time of the year, regardless of your connection to cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common, autosomal recessive, life-limiting diseases affecting children and adults in Australia. People with cystic fibrosis have a defective CFTR gene that causes a malfunction of the movement of salt in and out of the cells lining the exocrine system. As a result, there is a constant build-up of excessively thick and sticky mucus within the lungs, airways, and the ducts within the digestive system. At present, there is no cure for cystic fibrosis however researchers are working very hard to find one.

During Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, the Western Australian community comes together to help others learn about the disease and share their personal experience.

Are you someone living with cystic fibrosis? Maybe you are a parent, grandparent, carer, sibling, friend, or colleague of someone living with the cystic fibrosis. Tell your cystic fibrosis story on social media using the hashtag #CFAwarenessMonth. You can share the ways cystic fibrosis affects your life, what your treatment routine looks like, and so much more.

Follow along throughout the month of May as we share your stories on Facebook and Instagram.
