Roxane’s Success with her ‘Frog Passport’

Roxane’s Success with her ‘Frog Passport’

The Year of the Frog project is now into its third year! This collaboration with Perth Children’s Hospital aims to encourage kids with CF to submit 4 sputum samples (‘frogs’) a year to detect and identify bacteria, viruses and fungi that may be found in the lungs and enable quicker treatment.

Roxane recently completed her first ‘frog passport’ after much perseverance to collect all 4 sputum samples. Mum Kate said the initiative had really motivated Roxane to cough up her ‘frogs’ and earn the prize at the end.

The last sample Roxane provided caught a bug in her lungs, enabling early detection and treatment. Roxane earned her prize last month, thrilled to pick up a disc launcher which she enjoyed chasing around the park with her cousin. Well done Roxane!

We have lots of resources on our website to help support your child to cough up their ‘frogs’, and lots of great prizes ready to be collected!
