Climbing Mountains for Cystic Fibrosis

Climbing Mountains for Cystic Fibrosis

Tatiana and her team of trekkers took on Mount Kilimanjaro in January as a 65 Roses Challenge to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis (CF). A challenge like this takes preparation so the team started training early last year, taking on local hill climbs to build up their fitness.

They also started fundraising and ended up gathering $17,948.51 in donations on their online fundraising page. $5,000 of the funds raised was generously donated by Rio Tinto!
The team journaled the trek on their fundraising page (link below) to capture their experiences.

On the page Tatiana writes “The whole journey has helped us appreciate a satisfying big breath of air, and how reduced oxygen or lung capacity makes simple tasks, like getting dressed or packing a sleeping bag, very difficult. It is inspiring to know that people with Cystic Fibrosis persevere every day – we only had to persevere for a single day! We can truly appreciate that someone with CF is climbing a mountain every day of their lives.

A massive thank you to Tatiana, the whole Kili Team and their generous supporters, including Rio Tinto. Read their full story here https://65roseschallenge19.everydayhero.com/au/kilimanjaro-climb-for-cystic-fibrosis
