Chronic Wet Cough Albany Outreach

The last stop on our regional trip to deliver Chronic Wet Cough across regional WA this year was Albany.

With a busy time of year for everyone in December we were very appreciative of the community to make the time to catch up and have a yarn. Discussions with SW Health Professional networks to coordinate a 2023 sundowner to promote the chronic wet cough message began our visit then onto Kingdom Child Care Centre where we met a passionate educator and local Noongar women Debra who shared some great ideas about delivering the message to their families including sharing the animation over their Facebook pages.

We were fortunate to catch up with Coolangarras Barmah Kindergarten who are hoping to share information with their families and children every term in 2023. We also stopped into Kojonup Library to meet the lovely Lorreen with ideas about how to share the message with her local community including adding resources to book bags that are delivered to families. So that’s a wrap for 2022!

We have been so fortunate to meet with so many lovely and passionate people in the regional communities of WA who have some great ideas about how we can work together to educate communities about chronic wet cough. Making those connections and building relationships is vital in the work to prevent chronic wet cough in Indigenous communities. We hope you all have a very merry Xmas and lovely festive season and remember if  “Your li`l one has a wet cough for more than 4 weeks get them to clinic quick”.
