BINAR Health Embassy- Broome & Port Hedland

The LungSmart team was invited to attend local sporting carnivals in both Port Hedland and Broome, organised by Binar Futures. We engaged with 151 community members in Port Hedland and 267 in Broome. The events provided a valuable opportunity to promote overall health and wellbeing across both communities.

The LungSmart team attended to raise awareness about chronic wet cough and its impact on lung health, supporting early identification and encouraging important conversations around respiratory health.

The Binar Team’s approach is particularly effective, using both basketball and footy as culturally relevant and engaging platforms to connect with Aboriginal communities. By combining sport with health education and checks, the event created a trusted and inclusive space to address a range of health issues in a meaningful and culturally sensitive way.

The LungSmart team appreciates this collaboration and looks forward to continuing the partnership into 2026.
