Board Director Opportunity Cystic Fibrosis WA

Established in 1975, Cystic Fibrosis WA (CFWA) is a charitable incorporated association servicing the needs of people with cystic fibrosis in WA from its headquarters in Nedlands. CFWA funds support services for its 3,000 members through diversified home health services, education, social work and mental health services. It is also a funder of research and a proactive advocate for Western Australians with cystic fibrosis.

The Board of CFWA currently seeks to appoint an honorary director to its Board of Governance in 2020 to assist the organisation through further growth and deliver on its mission of being a social enterprise that funds critical research and essential support services to improve the lives of children and adults affected by cystic fibrosis.

Potential candidates will have a keen desire to contribute to the Association by offering their expertise and by leveraging their extensive professional networks.

The Board has set a future strategy of sustainable growth and would be particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from professionals in the fields of Marketing & Fundraising, Human Resources, Business and Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Legal and who are looking at broadening their experience on a not for profit Board.

Co-opted Board members are effective for the term of up to one year and are subject to renewal in April each year. Potential Board members will receive comprehensive training in CF and a Board member orientation pack.

The Board of CFWA meets monthly and is comprised of seven elected directors, together with three co-opted directors. Board members are required to display strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively whilst preserving independence.

Board members are exposed to a range of philanthropists and leaders in the community and will gain invaluable experience at a Board level. They also have the opportunity to be seen as contributing to one of the State’s leading not for profit associations and helping to achieve our vision of Lives Unaffected by CF.

Further information about CFWA may be found at www.cfwa.org.au.
