Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA), in conjunction with Mediplast (formerly Technipro-PulmoMed), is pleased to announce the 2021 Abbie Fennessy Memorial Fellowship.
The aim of the Fellowship is to improve the knowledge and skills of Allied Health Professionals working in cystic fibrosis care to benefit those who have cystic fibrosis.
The award is provided to support education, training, academic purposes, and/or medical research, activities that improve the quality of medicine and the improvement of cystic fibrosis patient outcomes. The Fellowship is open to Allied Health & Nursing professionals involved in the treatment or care of people with cystic fibrosis in Australia.
The Fellowship is an annual grant, up to the value of $5,000, which can be awarded entirely to one applicant, or shared between several applicants and will be subject to approval of the applicant’s budget.
Joint applications can be made, but all applicants need to be cystic fibrosis professionals from the nursing, dietetics, physiotherapy, social work, psychology and occupational therapy disciplines. Applications are sent to Cystic Fibrosis Australia whose review panel will select the winner.
Abbie Fennessy joined Technipro-PulmoMed in late 2010, while in her last year at university studying health science. Abbie worked with Technipro-PulmoMed for a few years and inspired every one of her colleagues. Abbie lost her battle with cystic fibrosis in 2012.
In acknowledgement of Abbie’s spirited contribution to the cystic fibrosis cause, this annual fellowship is named in her honour.
