My ABCF
My ABCF was written by Cystic Fibrosis WA. The book is aimed at young children with CF to encourage conversation and increase CF understanding from an early age.
The story follows two children as they journey through the alphabet learning more about living with CF. We want children to have a greater understanding of how their body works, the importance of treatments and knowing there are many other children with CF just like them.
It is available to purchase for $25 through our shop. We are able to offer one free copy per family in WA with a child aged up to approximately seven years.
My ABCF at School
The second book in our My ABCF series. My ANCF at School is a book designed to help classrooms learn more about CF. From coughs, to germs, to lunchboxes and medicine, this book will encourage conversations in the classroom about CF and initiate a greater understanding of how you can help your friend with CF stay healthy at school.
This book is available as part of our school resource pack and is free for schools with a child with CF aged K-2 in WA. It is also available to purchase for $25 through our shop.
Our Baby Has 65 Roses
Our Baby Has 65 Roses is a beautiful story of a little boy, his dog and his family as they learn and understand what is happening to his new baby sister who has been diagnosed with CF.
Written by Eilis Moroney and illustrated by Ruth Cahill, both mums to children with CF in Ireland.
“The overall aim of this book is to give comfort, confidence and support to parents and families of newly diagnosed CF babies. It reminds families who might be overwhelmed with worry for their newly diagnosed baby , of the many wonderful talents, dreams and gifts that their children have to offer and will achieve. These babies are resilient, determined, happy, mischievous and marvellous bundles of joy, just like their peers”.
CFWA have purchased copies of Our baby Has 65 Roses to gift to WA families with a newly diagnosed baby. Alternatively, it can be purchased through CF Ireland.
Do Not Lick This Book – CF Edition
Do Not Lick This Book (DNLTB) is a brilliantly simple, funny, interactive picture book that introduces children to the strange, unseen world of microbes all around them. Written by Idan Ben-Barak and illustrated by Julian Frost.
In 2021, CFWA worked with author and illustrator, Idan and Julian, to create a special edition of DNLTB especially for the CF community. The extra pages take a closer look at the lungs and some of the mucus and germs that might live in the lungs of people with CF. This special edition is only available from CFWA and can be purchased through our shop. We can offer one free copy per family with a child with CF in WA.
