CFWA Mental Health Gap Funding

Cystic Fibrosis WA Mental Health Subsidy Available

Having CF can at times be very difficult. Research indicates that people with CF can experience anxiety and or depression twice that of the general population.

If you’re struggling with mental health, then you can go to your GP to access a Mental Health Care Plan and Medicare Rebate. This scheme is designed to provide better access for people to access subsidised clinical counselling support. Although Medicare will subsidise the session there will however be a gap payment required for each session, approximately $50.

For many people with CF this gap payment can be prohibitive to necessary support.

CFWA are able to offer a new subsidy that will pay “Gap Funding” to see a community-based psychologist, social worker or counsellor.

Eligibility
• Must have CF
• 16 years and over
• Capped at $50 per application or session
• Reimbursement dependent upon presentation of receipt

This subsidy is available subject to CFWA funding.

For further information about the Mental Health Care Plan and the Medicare Rebate see our Mental Health Care Plan fact sheet.
